Process System Engineer

Vianode is seeking a talented Process System Engineer for our Process Technology department in Kristiansand to join our dynamic team and help us to realizing our Giga projects as well as driving continuous improvement at our Pilot plant. We are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible. We are looking for a candidate who can start as soon as possible, with applications reviewed continuously until the right individual is selected.

Vianode is an advanced battery materials company providing sustainable anode graphite solutions for the battery and EV value chains in North America and Europe. Vianode’s breakthrough solution enables tailored high-performance synthetic anode graphite and holistic sustainability offering a 90% reduction in CO₂ footprint. Vianode operates the world's most sustainable full-scale anode graphite plant for batteries at Herøya, Norway. The next step involves executing multi-billion dollar phased investment program dedicated to establishing large-scale plants across North America and Europe. Vianode’s long-term ambition is to supply advanced battery materials to 3 million EVs per year by 2030. Vianode is owned by the world-leading industrial and financial companies Hydro and Altor.

You will have a central function in the company’s Process Technology team.

Main responsibilities:

Towards the project:

• Develop and own functional descriptions and technical requirements for handling equipment for central parts of the technology.
• Initiate and run business case evaluations related to equipment and follow up with internal team-members, and external suppliers and partners.
• Support implementation of verified technical solutions through engineering, procurement, testing and delivery to project.

Towards Pilot plant:

• Disseminate critical knowledge in the organization, and support continuous improvement based on the development activities.
• Contribute in Vianode’s work on developing and securing IP.
• Reporting activities.

Qualifications:

• Relevant education at minimum bachelor level. Preferably with background from mechanical automation / electro / control system cross-functional disciplines within mechatronic / handling equipment application area.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, preferably from industrial production, automated equipment supplier industry or similar.

• Organized and structured with strong planning abilities.
• Proactive problem-solver who responds quickly to urgent needs.
• Solid technical understanding of production processes.
• Strong business acumen.
• Keen interest in EVs, batteries, and battery materials.
• Skilled in building relationships and working collaboratively in teams.
• Effective communicator, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required.
